Swansea city ladies football team
Hey guys I guess you all know of our local football side being Swansea city football club. We are all very proud of the achievements they have produced in the last couple of years and are more than happy with the quality of players Brendan Rogers has brought into our squad and are chuffed with our recent results this season and are all looking forward to the derby match in February.
What most fans don’t realise behind this is a very successful ladies team. They have been going on for many years now and have won numerous league titles and cups but most recent the ladies qualified for the female European cup after comfortably winning the welsh premier league. The European cup was held in Slovenia and the ladies were drawn a very tough group which consisted of Bardolio Verona of Italy, the hosts ZNK KRKA of Slovenia and Baia Zugdidi of Georgia. In their first game they played a very strong Bardolio Verona and lost 7-0 to former winners of the tournament. In their second game they play ZNK KRKA and again lost 4-0 in this match. Finally they played Baia Zugdidi of Georgia beating them 2-1 to get their first European win under their belts.
Recently the ladies have picked up the award for the coveted team of the year at the Active Swansea sports awards which they thoroughly deserved after finishing runners up the year before.
Currently the ladies are at the top of their league and are unbeaten only drawing two games and are looking promising in retaining the status of league champions and are still on course in all competitions.
The girls have been scoring many goals and been playing a quick passing style of football with numerous players with tremendous ability to achieve a higher standard of football and have many players representing their country at national level.
They currently play at Evans and Bevans playing field Baglan and the manager is Ian Owen who has been with the ladies for a couple of years and is getting the best out of his players. So get on up there to support your local ladies football team.
