We all love to pop into McDonald's from time to time, but is it good for us to eat quick meals even if we are in a hurry??

Do we even know what is put into the food we are eating?

McDonald's is one of many worldwide fast food businesses that gets millions of customers everyday.

However, many of my friends have complained that a Big Mac Meal will only keep them full for a couple of hours, so why do they keep on going there??

People are attracted to McDonald's by its quick service and cheap food. You can get a meal in minutes, but does this make it all right for us to eat??

A Big Mac contains 490 calories.?Fries contain 460 calories and a strawberry milkshake contains 545 calories. Overall in one meal (without a dessert) you will have consumed two-thirds of the guided daily amount of calories for a woman.?

All these calories will quickly put you onto the track of being overweight and possibly obese. Too much fat causes cholesterol and this clogs up your arteries, which increases your chances of getting coronary heart disease ? the biggest killer in the UK.

I recommend people taking a more healthy option to fast food. I know no one really likes eating salad and other foods which people feel compelled to tell us will give us a healthy lifestyle.

If you can't resist the comfort stuff, instead of going and getting a greasy burger, pop down to Greggs and get a pastie which only contains 304 calories. I know it's not that much better, but going from 490 to 304 is quite a big change to your diet.?

Have a look at our Health Directory.

I agree with you that it's a bad habit for people to eat fast food, but I wouldn't call Greggs an alternative.

I agree with you that Greggs is not really the best alternative, but if you are looking for a similar sort of thing like fast, quick food, Greggs seems to be the best low-calorie alternative which everyone seems to enjoy.

I don't think there's much low calorie munch in Greggs! Not the pasties anyway. The turkey and salad roll things would be your best bet I suppose in challenging a Big Mac for healthy options.
