Remember way back before Christmas, when the BBC Sound Of 2010 Longlist was announced? Well by Jove we have ourselves a winner!
Ellie Goulding, that Powys/Hereford, that possibly Welsh/probably English, that folk/electro singing lady had topped the industry insiders’ poll. So to speak.
Goulding, 22 joins 50 Cent, Keane, The Bravery, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mika, Adele and Little Boots in the coveted club of BBC Sound Of… Winners and is well positioned to be abso-ruddy-lutely everywhere this year.
Her “interesting” mix of folky singer-songwriter vocals and electro textures are already all over BBC radio output and garnering fans quickly.
Goulding's BBC Sound Of 2010 award will be joined on her mantelpiece by the Critic’s Choice Award she’s due to pick up at The Brits next month.
