Cold War Kids- Mine Is Yours, release date: 25th January 2011
On what is the quartets third full length release Cold War Kids arrive with the same stylish suitcases but with glistening new luggage, setting them on a journey for a new and popular destination.
Frequently dealing with the theme of affection and love-loss with contrastingly upbeat choruses forming the focal point of the album. Highlights of which include ‘Skip The Charades’, ‘Royal Blue’, and lead single ‘Louder Than Ever’.
The bands new angle is effectively illustrated with the change of style in album art. From the 2008 album, ‘Loyalty To Loyalty’, depicting a black and white image of a skeleton and a child in a car, to a simple white backdrop with the album title ‘Mine is Yours’ as the bright centre piece.
This represents the bands firsts steps into a matured sound similar to the process undertaken by Kings of Leon in their third LP ‘Because of the Times’, that being the conception of a more accessible sound. As they continue to flourish, Cold War Kids are destined to develop their highly formidable format, generating buckets of mass appeal.
