Bombarded By Exams?
Exam stress can affect the way your mind and body works.
Stress can be good for you whilst you’re in your exam period, as it pushes you to do your best. On the other hand, you worry and forget everything whilst sitting your exams.
If you think you are suffering from exam stress, there are several symptoms, such as:
- Feeling tired
- Aching all over
- Crying and feeling sad
- Having panic attacks
- Breaks in sleep
- Suffering from stomach upsets
- Have itchy skin rashes/spots
- More likely to get colds and flu
You can beat exam stress by keeping calm and relaxed, getting plenty of sleep, taking regular breaks during revision, allocating leisure and social time for yourself, eating properly, taking part in regular exercise, and most of all, keeping positive!
If the worst happens and your mind goes blank during your exam, don’t panic. Just sit back, relax and focus. Take a few deep breathes, and when you feel that you’re ready, read the question again and take your time to answer it. Whatever happens, don’t leave it blank.
Whilst I was studying at KS3, I didn’t understand how the year tens and elevens got so stressed over their exams, saying that they were ‘too much’ for them to handle, but now I realise how difficult it is to balance social time and revision.
I’ve recently been dealing with exam stress, and it isn’t very nice, I always feel tired, have itchy rashes, ache and have a cold. It’s horrible! Every day for two weeks I have had at least two two-hour exams, which has really drained me. My mock exams are ending shortly, and I cannot wait. I will be experiencing exam stress once again in May, as I have a few early GCSES.
Please feel free to share your experiences of exam stress. Also, don’t forget to share your tips and tricks to beating exam stress. It would be very helpful.
