The thing about the Internet is that information is king.

Whether it's receiving information for your next assignment or giving information while signing up to websites.

But, it seems that one of the internet's giants are willing to pay you for your information.

That's right, Google will give you $5 every three months if you allow them to monitor your internet habits.

Why so? Well, they say that they want to "learn more about how everyday people use the internet".

The project, named Screenwise, sets out to offer Amazon vouchers in return for how you use the internet, and will work through an extension on Google's own browser, Chrome. That said, Amazon is not a sponsor for the promotion.

Although not officially launched, registration is now available for those willing to give up privacy for payment.

You will receive $5 when signing up for the service, and a further $5 after every three months of use, up to a maximum of $25, meaning that this project is set to run for at least a year.

What do you think of this? Is this a really good way for Google to develop in a way that centres the user rather the shareholders?

Or is it just a means for one of the big guns of the internet to earn more money with little effort?
