Get Active - Get Raising
When Sport Relief starts tomorrow until Sunday, it will once again bring the whole country together, helping to raise millions of pounds for projects in the United Kingdom and the world’s poorest countries.
The money is spent by Comic Relief to help and support people living in disadvantaged communities across the world. The money could be spent helping young African children go to primary school or help towards supporting elderly people living in the UK.
The money raised will support and help children who live on the streets or work in dangerous conditions, people affected by malaria, and local UK projects.
There is no better way to show your support and raise cash for Sport Relief than The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile. It has been announced that this year's run is going to be bigger and better than ever before.
There are 16 Flagship Miles and hundreds of other Mile events taking place across the UK on Sunday 21 March. You can either run one, three or six miles in favour for charity.
But here’s the amazing bit. By raising money, Sport Relief has decided to give back to the raisers by awarding them with amazing gifts.
Also, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx are selling many products. You can find t-shirts at both stores, and socks, waterbottles, wristbands, bouncy balls and phone socks at Sainsbury’s.
Celebrities have also been getting involved. Christine Bleakley water-skied across the English Channel to Calais successfully on Friday 12 March.
David Walliams gathered an almighty group of celebrities together including Davina McCall, Fearne Cotton, Jimmy Carr, Miranda Hart, Russell Howard and Patrick Kielty. They cycled from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in the south of England and raised an incredible £1,006,509.
There are 27 projects altogether in Wales that Sport Relief sets out to help and provide funding. Plus, at the top of this article is a video about a teenage boy called Rohit.
