Cocoa Shortage In 20 Years?
Bad news for chocoholics, as it seems that cocoa supplies are running short, which will result in the price of chocolate rising soon.
According to some scientists with a sweet tooth, we (as in the world, not you and I) will have a million-ton cocoa shortage in less than a decade.
The growing consumption of chocolate means that cocoa farmers will need a farm the size of the Ivory Coast to deal with the demand.
Talking to The Express, leading British chocolatier Angus Kennedy said that, “Part of the problem is the growing demand for chocolate in Asia where countries such as China are turning more towards Western tastes.”
If there is no boost to cocoa supplies, it might result in a price hike with a possibility of substitutes to chocolate which "melt in your mouth”. That, or companies will consider using fillings such as nuts to bulk up the bars.
According to sources, companies such as Mars, Cadbury and Nestle will suffer, with London chocolatier Marc Demarquette predicting that, “Galaxy, Creme Eggs, and every kind of £1 chocolate bar will be a thing of the past."
There are even predictions that it will become the new form of caviar, with the average person not able to afford it.
Will this forecast change our thought process? Will it make us slow down on our cocoa consumption? Only time will tell, it seems.

I love chocolate and I don't care if that makes me sound greedy or whatever but this cannot be happening. This is either an early (or late) April Fools or I'm having a nightmare.

I doubt it's an April Fools thing. You cannot have the word "caviar" in an article and it being an April Fool thingy. It's one of the hidden rules of the internet, y'know.

i agree with my fellow Chocolate Lover Ihavethecyrusvirusx We cant live without chocolate, but i guess the price increase, should mean that the growers will get a better deal (i hope)
